Course planning is done initially at the department level on an annual basis. Each department plans a three-semester course schedule that includes fall, spring, and summer.
Planning for the coming Academic Year will normally take place between July and October of the previous Academic Year.
Tentative schedules for all three semesters are submitted to and approved by the Dean’s Office (Associate Dean for Curriculum & Instruction) by early October (exact deadlines determined annually as per the University Production Calendar sent out by the Registrar).
Tentative schedules (link to form below) must be drawn up in accordance with the Registrar’s rules and restrictions (see link below).
Tentative schedules are entered into PeopleSoft by the same deadline by which they are submitted to the Associate Dean. Access to scheduling is then turned off.
The Associate Dean reviews the proposed schedule and, if needed, suggests revisions and changes in consultation with the Chair/Director.
Department access to Course Scheduling in PeopleSoft will re-open for a limited time period during which courses may be changed as agreed upon with the Associate Dean.
All schedule changes made after department access to PeopleSoft is closed the second time, including adding or deleting courses or changing instructors, must be submitted to the Dean’s Office through OnBase, and have to be approved by the Associate Dean.
Class cancelations within two weeks prior to the start of the semester, and cancelation of classes with significant enrollment earlier than two weeks have to be approved by the Associate Dean as well as the Associate Provost of Undergraduate Programs.
