Michael Loovis
Dr. Loovis came to Cleveland State University in 1978. His major area of interest is adapted physical education. He teaches primarily in the undergraduate physical education licensure program. He also teaches a course in human development in the masters program, and a course in organizational development and change in the Urban Education Doctoral Program. He is an avid squash player. He enjoys traveling especially international travel. Dr. Loovis has spent the last fifteen years conducting research on the effects of gender, age, balance, and participation in youth sport on the development of fundamental motor skills and patterns in elementary school children. He is a member of the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity and has presented papers at numerous national and international meetings of that group including papers in Spain, England, Norway, Japan, South Korea, Austria, Italy, Brazil, Sweden, and Canada. He recently spent a month in the Czech Republic as an "invited scholar" for the Erasmus Mundus International Master's Program in Adapted Physical Activity
