Initial License

The College of Education and Human Services offers programs for students interested in a teaching license as well as specialized programs for exercise/fitness specialists or sports managers. Licensure programs are offered for teachers of multiple levels and subject areas. All licensure programs offer core courses for a solid foundation, specialized courses to help you learn the best teaching practices in your area, and a range of field experiences with experienced practicing teachers in urban and suburban settings. All initial licenses can be earned at the undergraduate level as part of a major or minor in education. If you have already earned a bachelor’s degree, you may be able to complete a “post-baccalaureate” program that allows you to take undergraduate courses. Some licensure areas allow you to take master’s courses and applying them to a master’s degree.
