Greater Cleveland Educational Development Center (GCEDC)
Message from Director

Dennis Kowalski

I hope that you share my optimism as we look to begin a productive andimpactful school year. It seems as though each year districts are challenged with increased mandates, limited resources, and time constraints. Let us help you respond to these challenges and create teaching and learning opportunities. We welcome the opportunity to work with and for you to stretch your resources, align professional development and "grow" your staff. Our program calendar for the 2010-11 school year has tried to respond to your needs. We are grateful for the collective input from our governing board, district liaisons, representatives and members. We also recognize the fact that more and more districts and individual schools have personalized needs. We have increased our services in this area and invite more interaction.
Last year we conducted staff development activities for over 6000 educators on-site and hope to continue to do so. Topics included:

  • Assessment for Learning (FAST program)
  • Classroom Management through Building Relationships
  • Application of the Framework of Poverty
  • Organizational Leadership
  • Team Building
  • Project Based Learning
  • Differentiated Instruction
  • 21st Century Skill Lesson Planning
  • Global Education for the 21st Century Learner
  • Applications of Classroom Instruction that Works (Marzano)
  • 6 +1 Writing Traits
  • Common Assessment Development K -12

Please contact us to discuss these topics and/or prepare programming for your specific needs. We can help you operationalize your focus and continuous improvement planning.

For this upcoming school year we will again feature networks in Literacy and Global Education for the 21st Century Learner. We will add networks in Career Education, Early Chilhood, and Assessment for Learning Leadership Support Team.

We hope you will take advantage of this membership benefit and send district representation. We will be sharing effective practices and want you to “show and tell”.

I wish you a good start and a productive school year.

Thank You!

Dennis J. Kowalski
